At the forefront of the conspiracy are Brutus and Cassius, characters with seemingly different motivations, provided a common goal. It is the virtue of their intentions where the two seem to diverge. Whereas Brutus is seen by his peers as honest and shocking, Cassius is an obviously villainous character. Brutus, throughout the play, is endlessly referred to as good, master, or honest. At the same time, Cassius dishonest genius is suspect even by Caesar himself.
